The right to market information is a fundamental right of the consumer in commercial transactions since there is a duty on public enterprises of fair dealing with the public. Though this right is conferred by the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, (Consumer Protection Bill, 2018) on the consumer, he can obtain the information within the prescribed time limit under The Right to Information Act, 2005 by exercising this right in order to make them informed choices for the purchase of goods and services. This paper aims at focusing on the area where consumers can prevent an unfair trade practice, fraud by availing of this right under The Right to Information Act, 2005.
