ABSTRACT:

The conceptual paper is based on women empowerment in India .As this is the burning issue in India and needs much attention by the economists and socialists of our country. The paper focuses on various aspects such as barriers of women empowerment, its solutions, actions taken to empower women and the road ahead in which areas are described where women empowerment in India is largely lacking. The paper shows that women empowerment must be given weightage in the country like India which is still in the position of recovery from its socio-economic evils and misconceptions about women and their rights in society. Some important programmes and schemes are also discussed to empower women in India.
