In the elections BJP (Bhartiya janta Party) defeated the congress and won 44 seats in the assembly polls after an aggressive election campaign of 17 days. Social media (Facebook) played a great role in the election campaign as the BJP has posted maximum number of posts on its the official Facebook site of Himachal Pradesh as compared to congress Party. The previous government was of the congress party and the main power tussle was between Chief minister Virbhadra Singh and BJP's chief ministerial candidate Prem Kumar Dhumal. Exit polls have already predicted an easy victory of BJP over Congress in Himachal Pradesh. But as the data collected and analyzed in this research tells same thing but in different manner. From data we find that BJP has posted maximum number of posts which is 270 and at the same time congress has posted 112 posts of different categories set .Here the difference is 158. This difference shows that BJP was more active on facebook than Congress party.
