The following features were factors which ensured CPD positively affected practice: Leadership: this was considered a prime factor by school staff and external providers. A clear ‗vision‘ for ICT CPD was vital to the success of any approach, and could help manage problems caused by lack of time or lack of funds. Effective leaders made the best use of the expertise of their staff, not just in terms of their ICT skills, but also in terms of setting up collaborative peer learning which made the most of excellent practitioners and good communicators. time given to work with colleagues to plan and review classroom strategies which were immediately practical and could be implemented straight away. • Informal learning: this was a very important aspect of working in a school as an effective learning community.
