ABSTRACT

Suicide is a widespread issue which is demonstrating an upward pattern as of late. Suicide is thought to be the second most basic reason for death in adolescents. The reason for the present research was to contemplate the Level of Suicidal Ideation Between Male and Female Medical students. The Descriptive Study Design was utilized, in which 30 Male and 30 Female Medical students were incorporated. The information on Suicidal ideation was gotten by utilizing Suicidal Ideation Scale created by Devendra Singh Sisodia and Vibhuti Bhatnagar (2011). The example picked were in the age assemble between 18-23 years. The got information was dissected with the assistance of independent't' test. These days, the students from professional course students confronting different psychological issues. This investigation plans to discover the Level of suicidal ideation amongst Male and Female Medical students.

METHODOLOGY

Suicidal ideation Incluusion Criteria Students between the age group of 18-23 would be included under Graduate Students only.

Exclusion Criteria

1) Students form broken family, divorced families were excluded 2) Students who are mentally or physically challenged were excluded

Operational Definition

1) Medical Students: Medical students who are seeking after medical course in degree. Medical students need to confront solid rivalry as they are relied upon to be effective in their career. Also, society when all is said in done has high desires from Medical students. Parental or family desires without anyone else want to succeed in their picked course assembles a considerable measure of pressure on Medical students those results in high stress level. 2) Suicidal ideation Suicidal ideation has been characterized "having considerations, thoughts and goals about suicide and plan and wishes to confer suicide". Tools

The following tools were used to measure the Suicidal ideation among Medical students. 1) Semi structure interview schedule to obtain the demographic details. 2) Suicidal ideation scale by Devendra Singh Sisodia and Vibhuti Bhatnagar (2011)

Sample

The Purposive Sampling technique was used to select the sample. On the whole, a total of 60 students were chosen as the sample. Among them 30 Male and 30 female Medical Students. The age group of the sample was between 18-23.

Procedure:

The adolescents matured between 18-23 years were chosen as members for the present examination. The Semi-Structured Interview Schedule were managed to acquire the required statistic subtle elements of the example. The subjects were likewise screened keeping in see the consideration and prohibition criteria. Compatibility was set up with the subjects previously the organization of the tests. Accordingly, the Suicidal ideation scale which comprises of 25 questions was regulated to them with fitting directions. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

SUMMARY:

The present examination went for concentrate the suicidal ideation among Medical students. It was hypothesized that there would be significant gender difference in Suicidal ideation among Medical Students.

CONCLUSIONS:

In view of the finding of the present examination, the accompanying conclusions were drawn. 1) Significant difference was found amongst Male and Female Medical students in Suicidal ideation. 2) It was discovered that female students having more Suicidal ideation than male Medical students.

LIMITATIONS OF THE PRESENT STUDY:

Sample was restricted to Bangalore city only. 1. The study may be extended to other cities 2. Other streams of Professional courses such as engineering, Architecture. Law and so on can be included in the future research to draw a more comprehensive picture.
