ABSTRACT
This paper discussed the role of the library in education by establishing a relationship between ‘Library’ and ‘Education’. ‘Education’ and ‘Library’ are two inseparable and one cannot exist alone in the absence of the other. In other words, one survives as long as the other exists. This relationship and dependence on each other came from the birth of human civilization into economic success through an evolutionary process in accord with various needs, changes and circumstances of various stages of human life.

INTRODUCTION
Over the years, libraries had also supported education through education, information and reference services. It provides programs to meet the needs of the people in search for educational skill. Library resources are distributed to the institution, including prisoners, hospitals, rehabilitation programs as well as disabled and elderly people's homes. By ‗Education‘, it means the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, creates civic and rational sense so that they may attain social competence and the optimum individual development has been achieved. The search for knowledge led to the creation and accumulation of huge amounts of data. As human wants are unlimited, even the quest for knowledge knows no boundaries or limits. It continued since the dawn of civilization to the modern age. This information and knowledge is valuable for entire mankind and therefore, it is a must to be preserved. With the invention of paper during the 2nd century(25-220AD) which paved the way for information and knowledge to be stored and passed it to future generations. Thousands of manuscripts that were written by earlier wise men have survived. With both the invention of the printing press in 1440, the preservation of knowledge and information about the past by paper documents was made easier. This has led to the generation of many books. The need to preserve information has led to more 'Libraries' being established. Libraries were also defined as an organized collection of published and unpublished books with the help of personnel services capable of providing and interpreting such materials as required, to meet the education and recreational search of its users. In other words, libraries also referred to as: • Collection of literacy documents or records for reference or borrowing. • A series of standard programs and subroutines are stored and immediately available. • A building containing books and other equipment. Education alone cannot exist in the lack of a library and library, unless education is provided.
ROLE OF LIBRARY IN EDUCATION
Libraries are considered to be one of the more efficient teaching components. A good library is a must for the intellectual, moral and spiritual progress and growth of a community's peoples. People acquire education through institution like schools, colleges, agencies and organizations and library is the most outstanding of such institution. The main objective of education are: • It allows the citizens of the community‘s information education opportunities. • It enhances people's knowledge in multiple disciplines. • It supports educational, civil and cultural activities of groups and organizations. • It provides necessary information materials in the form of textbooks, journals, magazines, etc. Libraries have tools to inspire and support education of all ages and every field of study. The library enables the person to achieve spiritual, inspiring and recreational activity by having read. It provides access to education by teaching information skills.
Libraries also help ensure equity in education by: • Addressing the needs of student most at risk. • Providing unimpeded access to information and ideas through social, cultural, and economic constraints. • complete access to thoughts and knowledge. However, it does not take into account geographical barriers which can be an obstacle to access information and ideas from the library. Libraries have an impact on academical achievement and have helped them to develop lifelong learning to prepare people for productive job security adults and promoting the enjoyment of reading. Libraries also played an important role in any nation. If the nation is to build up and attain an assess potential of growth per capita income, the large percentage should be educated. This is because human resource management are the most important indicators for national construction. The most effective method of developing human resource is through education. Through education, masses can attain literacy for national development as education is one of the most important component of Human Development Index (HDI). Books and non-book materials are available by libraries to meet educational needs. The program also helps to support diverse forms of cultural expansion as libraries also depict the lifestyle as well as experience of the others. A library within a school serves as a place for students to do independent work, provide research materials and many other information resources related to education which can promote the progress of knowledge in many students. Libraries can also inspire education to every individuals of all ages. They teach skills and strategies individuals need to learn and achieve .Libraries is like a storehouse of knowledge as most of the topics including history, geography, economics, politics and science related topics are all available. Without a library, any educational institution will not be complete. This type of libraries are present in many colleges and universities. The resources provided by the library plays the following role: • Facilitate planning and implementation of learning program which provide students with the skills necessary to succeed or adapt in a constantly changing social and economic environment. • It offers and promotes student efficiency and enhances the academic, aesthetic, societal and emotional development of students. Besides this, a library also plays an important role in education including: • Helping literacy to become permanent. • Enables the individual to develop their full potential and to expand their perspective, involvement and abilities. • It improves literacy and reading habits among children and young adults. • It also promotes readings amongst the local communities. • It prepares the person to prepare for future including jog search and other works.
CONCLUSION
Libraries played an important role in the modern society for education and research. In other words, it is an important tool for the development of the society by enhancing the cause of education and academic research. The provide information to thousands of peoples who need them. With the development in Science and Technology, there is an explosion in information. In order to meet the growing needs of users, many steps are taken to upgrade the existing ones and building of new ones. Information is power as well as access to data is essential for the development of individuals and companies.
