Abstract

Right to Education Act was enacted to achieve the goal of free and compulsory education in India. This Act is seems to put a patch on the current education system in India. In this article the Act has been discussed in view of common education system. Various deficiencies related to execution of this act have been discussed. Public and private schooling arrangements and their functioning has been discussed in this article. Right to Education is not proven sufficient to provide free and good quality education to all children of the country. It seems that common schooling system is the only solution for providing free and compulsory education.
