Every one of his plays manage the contemporary musings just as profound established conventional ideas of social issues like sexual orientation separation, singular space, conventionality versus advancement, women's liberation and so forth. The film titled 'Move Like a Man' in light of his play of a similar title, has won the honor from the National Panorama for the best film in English. Mahesh Dattani is one of the famous dramatists in Indian English Writing. He is the first dramatist who is granted the Sahitya Academy grant. He established his playgroup 'Playpen' and composed his first play 'Where There's a Will' in 1988. From that point forward he has written numerous plays counting Tara, Night Queen, Dance Like a Man, On a Muggy Night in Mumbai, Final Solution and so on.
