Abstract
This study presents an overview of student modelingapproaches under uncertain conditions prevalent in e-learning environments. Thestudent model plays a vital role in the adaptation of the instruction as perstudents’ current knowledge. A discussion on the most commonly used studentmodeling approaches is presented. The issue of inexact student modeling andapproaches used to deal with uncertainty in student modeling tasks are thenexplored. Student modeling mechanisms, which is appropriate for interpretingstudent’s interactions with learning objects in order to estimate theirknowledge status under uncertain conditions, is discussed.
