Abstract

This study aims at developing an understanding of thebusiness strategies of the top five players in the Hindi General EntertainmentChannel (GEC) genre. It also puts effort in studying their programmingstrategies, along with the expected changes that the genre might have to make,considering the evolution of newer media platforms. This genre is currently t27.1% of the total television size, which is the largest share. The total sizeof advertising industry for Hindi GECs is 3500 crore, out of the total 240billion.
