Abstract

Lianadiversity of the Kolli hills in 8 ha area totaled 26 species (25cm gbh) representing 18 families and 24 genera. The range of species in thefour 2-ha study plots was 9 to 21, the lowest species richness was that of thedisturbed plot KS. The richness of liana taxa above the species-level was alsolower in the disturbed plots than in the undisturbed plots. Comparisonof liana diversity in the tropical forests is made difficult, since theinventories on lianas vary in their objectives and methodologies adopted.
