Abstract

Developmentof transportation has greatly affected the development of the modern world anddevelopment of transport systems has polluted the environment too. Studies haveshown that motor vehicles operating on highways constitute one of the majorsources of noise. Trafficnoise prediction models have been developed in many industrialized countries. These models cannot, however, be applied in their original form in othercountries, especially in the developing countries as the characteristics of thetraffic and reference mean emission levels of the vehicles are different. Therefore, there is a need of transferability of traffic noise predictionmodels. Thispaper includes the review of noise prediction models and geographicaltransferability of noise prediction models.
