Abstract

Theapplication of oxiranyl anions in organic synthesis represents a unique meansto introduce the epoxide functional group into organic molecules. Unlike simpleoxidation procedures, use of these nucleophiles increases molecular complexityin the carbon skeleton at the same time new functionality is created. Thegeneration and utility of trialkylsilyl-substituted oxiranyl anions ishighlighted in this paper.
