Abstract
Fluids have a fundamental role as agents for migrationand concentration of hydrocarbons and metals within sedimentary basins (e.g.,Oliver, 1992; Sverjensky and Garven, 1992; Parnell, 1994; 1998). Tracing theorigin and migration pathways of these fluids is thus a prerequisite forcorrect evaluation of the economic potential of large basins and for refiningexploration, appraisal and development of hydrocarbon accumulations.
