Abstract

Silane based products are becoming an interestingmaterial for pre-treatment deposition, because, for the environmentalcompatibility, they can be used as substitutes of traditional pre-treatmentslike chromates. Silanes have been studied as new pre-treatments before organiccoating deposition for many different metals, including aluminium, copper andzinc. Silane coatings, with added functionalities for improved performance anddurability, were designed to increase the corrosion protection of magnesiumalloys. The corrosion behavior of the coated AZ31 was studied throughelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 0.05 M NaCl.
