Abstract

The drinking water quality directly affects human health. The present investigation is thus asmall contribution to understand the quality status of surface water of different villages of Sri Ganganagardistrict of northern Rajasthan. For sample collection Ganganagar district was divided in six differentzones namely zone A, B, C, D, E and F. Total 63 samples were collected from these six zones. Thephysico-chemical parameters such as pH, freeCO2, dissolved oxygen chloride, Total hardness, calciumhardness, magnesium hardness, total alkalinity, sulphate, nitrate and total dissolved solids wereanalyzed. The parameters analyzed in present study show that the surface water is normal soft water andall the parameters are within the permissible limits for drinking water recommended by WHO, BIS andICMR.
