Abstract

Themigration to modern information systems and advancement in noninvasive healthmonitoring devices enable highly mobile users to support increased efficienciesand improvements in delivery of healthcare. Users of these systems are likelyto have different needs or views of information either because oforganizational role or because of geographic location. In this distributedarchitecture, available resources must dynamically be able to be reassigned torespond to external factors such as changes in the environment, changes inshort-term objectives, reallocation of responsibilities, and changes in resourceconsumption patterns. This paper describes a framework for healthcare decisionmaking and management of healthcare operations through the application ofdynamic resource management using information technology for what we callactive management of healthcare operations.
