A Study on the Gamma Ray Angular Distribution: Investigating the Angular Distribution of Gamma Rays

Abstract

In this current study, some research work is done onangular distribution of gamma rays. To check the level of reliability for theangular distribution analysis in the current work, tests were made withtransitions of known multi polarity.  Themeasurement of the angular distribution of a γ-ray transition can help todetermine the multi polarity of the transition and consequently the spins of theexcited nuclear states. The nuclei produced in a fusion-evaporation reaction,for example, are aligned with the angular momentum vector perpendicular to thebeam direction. It is therefore possible to obtain an anisotropic angulardistribution. If there is no preferred direction, the angular distributions areisotropic.
