Abstract

Lightning strike is a sudden electric discharge betweenatmosphere and earth bound object. Powerful lightning strikes pose asignificant threat to buildings and people. The first systematic and scientificstudy of lightning was performed by Benjamin Franklin during the second half ofthe 18th century. Hundreds of devices, including lightning rods and chargetransfer systems, are used to mitigate lightning damage and influence the pathof a lightning flash.
