Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is a part of future Internet and by 2020 it will comprise 50 billion of Internet Connected Devices (ICDs) or ‘things’ where ICDs can sense, communicate, compute and actuate as well as have intelligence, multi-modal interfaces, physical or virtual identities and attributes. The vision of IoT is to allow ICDs to be connected anytime, anywhere, with anyone and anything, ideally using any network, any path, any protocol and any service. The Internet of Things (IoT) is not only about interconnecting different devices to the Internet, but also about providing knowledge by analyzing the data collected from those devices. This IoT vision leads to a new notion called IoT streaming applications that could process billions of data streams and Zeta byte of data every day to provide the knowledge required to support smart and timely decision making. This IoT streaming applications come up with lot of challenges as well. In this paper the IoT streaming applications and challenges to achieve real time QoS is discussed.
