Performance Analysis and Improvement of Cross Layer Based Virus Detection Techniques For Wireless Local Area Networks: Enhancing Security and Performance of Virus Detection in Wireless LANs

Abstract

The security problems ofvirus detection techniques for wireless local area networks (WLAN) are wellknown, and the threat of war driving is well publicized. However so far, noknown studies have been conducted to assess the risk faced by organizations andthe full extent of unauthorized use of wireless LANs. This paper seeks toinvestigate virus detection in the wireless LAN. Wireless LAN standards offervery unsatisfactory level of security and one could not truly trust them. Whenusing products based on these standards security issues must be taken care inthe upper layers. Some commonly used attacks are more stressed in wirelessenvironment and some additional effort should be used to prevent those.
